Framed Colombian Street Scene Painting

While searching for a subject to paint for this year's fundraiser I found this beautiful wagon. This painting developed quickly after I saw some photos of street vendors. I was able to harness my fascination for gardening with the plants placed in the wagon as well as revisiting the Chivas from my prior years painting. This painting was done with ten layers which helped develop the perspective. The texture of the road is by far my favorite part of this painting.

Framed Botero Painting

Many of my paintings are portraits, so I felt that Botero (a Colombian artist), would be a fun painting to create. The challenge that was brought upon me was to make the image statuesque and not human. My favorite parts of this painting are the negative space in the background and the smoothness of the statue. It was hard for me not to give the statue a soul because I usually spend a lot of time on eyes to give a lifelike feel to the subject. The coolness in the eyes reminds me of a great friend of mine who became blind at a very young age from Steven Johnson Syndrome.

Framed poem, "Our Family" and Maya Angelou book of poetry

This poem by FANA mom, Julie Sonnek, takes the famous Maya Angelou poem, "Human Family," and adapts it for adoptive families.

Love Defies Geography, framed print

This custom print shows off the colors of the Colombian flag and the maps of both cities tied together in love for the children of FANA. Love truly does defy geography.
